RLV Summer Youth Workshop

Program Directors: Maggie Rush Miller and Shelley McGrew

This workshop is offered for free to the students, thanks to the support of generous individuals and over forty local businesses. The program has received substantial grants from Diamond Ventures, SaddleBrooke Community Outreach, and The Puffin Foundation.


S C H E D U L E

  • Age range: 4–18 years old

  • Dates: July 26th –30th 2010
  • Daily schedule: Monday through Friday

4-8 years of age: 9 a.m. to11.30 a.m.

9-18 years of age: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

D E S C R I P T I O N

2010 marks the RLV OracleArt Youth Summer Workshops 12th year. Award winning teachers and artists from here and around the country share their talents and skills providing creative experiences to local youth. The workshop includes: World Music and Drumming, Dance, Theater Arts, Creative Writing and the Studio Arts.

Rachel Muehrer will teach African drumming, song and dance. She will also work with the children to write and perform a Rock Song including electric guitar, bass, piano, drums and vocals. Renee Arner joins the workshop for her second year, bringing her expertise in violin, Celtic harp and song. Cassandra Medley will teach creative writing. Carla Elam will lead the studio arts classes. Royal Miller and Elizabeth Cochran will work with the youth to write, film, direct and edit a digital movie.
