In the face of increasing ecological challenges and the global climate crisis, chemistry plays a crucial role in shaping a more sustainable future. In particular, the chemical industry must realign itself to meet the growing demands for environmental and climate protection while ensuring its economic competitiveness. Leuphana Professional School is responding to the growing demand for expertise in sustainable chemistry with two part-time Master's programs: M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry and MBA Sustainable Chemistry Management. Both programs will start again in March 2024.

Environmentally friendly production, safe products and a sustainable future are key elements of the programs. They aim to train leaders who can make the chemical industry a driving force for change towards sustainable chemistry. This involves comprehensive, forward-looking approaches that both meet the requirements of a circular economy and contribute to the United Nations' sustainability goals.

The MSc Sustainable Chemistry provides a comprehensive understanding of green and sustainable chemistry. Among other things, students will explore the molecular basis for sustainability, toxicology, environmental behavior, substance design and renewable resources. The degree opens up career prospects in science, industry, government agencies, associations or NGOs.

The MBA Sustainable Chemistry Management is aimed not only at chemists, but also at non-chemists with an interest in sustainable chemistry. The program combines sustainable chemistry with practice-oriented sustainability management to train managers at all levels of decision-making for a sustainable chemical industry.

Both courses can be studied almost entirely online. They are internationally oriented and are offered in English. Internationally renowned scientists and experts such as Leuphana Professor Dr. Klaus Kümmerer supervise the students. Both courses are recognized by the United Nations as SDG Good Practices examples.

Applications for a place are now being accepted and will remain open until December 10.
